Meridiana Group

As a company of the Meridiana Group our roots are in “Alisarda”, His Royal Highness Aga Khan’s “airline creature”. This is a company that from 1963 onwards played a fundamental role in developing air transport and tourism. Alisarda was created to provide a fast and reliable air service connecting Olbia, gateway from the newly created resort of the Costa Smeralda to major Italian destinations.

On May 3rd, 1991 Alisarda changed its name to Meridiana S.p.A, to take into account the new reality of the company in developing air services offered in Europe.

On November 16th, 1992 Meridiana was approved as a JAR 145 (then Part 145) Repair Station.
Meridiana was the first company in Italy and among the first in Europe to obtain this certification.

Since obtaining the certification, Meridiana has performed repairs and modifications both on its own fleet and on that of several other customers, including in its approved Scope of Work: heavy maintenance including MD-80, Boeing 717 and Airbus A320, Family fleet (base and line maintenance), Boeing 737 and Airbus A330 line maintenance.

In December 2006 Meridiana S.p.A. bought the controlling share of the airline Eurofly, starting a process of integration ended on February 28th, 2010 with the foundation of Meridiana Maintenance S.p.A. and Meridiana Fly S.p.A., the two companies that respectively incorporate the engineering line and the air carrier line of Meridiana and Eurofly.

Following this integration, Meridiana Group became a holding that controls the airline company, Meridiana fly, the maintenance company, Meridiana Maintenance, and the Olbia airport management company, GEASAR S.p.A.
